The journey of Bella's design and realization took several years of research, ideation, and testing. The initial concept and utility patents were filed in August 2008, with the first Kindle Living Heater introduced in 2010. After further development, Bella (v2) was proudly introduced in 2013. All design, testing, and manufacture for Kindle Living products are based in Los Angeles, California.

Kindle Living's approach to outdoor heating was born out of a desire to transform an outdated and uninspired product. Traditional outdoor heaters, often referred to as "mushroom" types, lacked aesthetic appeal and failed to meet the demands of modern design. Kindle Living overcame these challenges by creating new materials and manufacturing techniques. For example, their patented Firewall shade liner can withstand bursts of heat in excess of 1000°C, greatly improving user comfort and performance.
